Shortly after they both accepted Jesus as their savior, Sunny married a navy sailor in 1988. They met in Tokyo, Japan, where she was born and grew up. After attending Full Gospel Christian Cell Fellowship for a bit, with her music appreciation, Sunny began singing in the choir. The navy moved them to Guam in 1991. After two children and the stresses of life, they had a parting of their ways in 1993.

In 1994, the navy transferred him to San Diego. To keep connected with the children, Sunny moved to San Diego in 1997. Plans did not go as expected with the children, so Sunny moved to Los Angeles to be close to her girlfriends for two years.

Sunny began attending Harbor Church in Lomita, and she married the church pastor in 2000. She was active with the church and participated in their choir and worship team for ten years. However, after four years with the marriage failing, Sunny wanted her children to be in Torrence West High School, so she moved to Torrence in 2004. After the children finished school, she moved to Gardena in 2011 and began attending Connection Point Church in Torrence. Sunny participated in the worship team at Connection Point Church for eleven years.

One of her girlfriends began attending Rolling Hills Covenant Church and invited her to visit. At the time, Donny Walker was in the worship team at Rolling Hills Covenant Church. They met and Donny asked her to sing with the singles group in 2012. She began singing on Friday nights at Rolling Hills Covenant Church coffee house, where they had a service with worship and a message. Donny and Sunny were neighbors in Gardena for ten years until 2020 when Sunny moved to San Pedro.
In 2018, the coffee house closed and Sunny began attending OC Singles for Christ. Shortly after Donny started the dance band, Sunny joined to help with vocals.
