Vocals / Lead Guitar

When Donny was in first grade, his teacher asked the class what they wanted to be as adults. Being enraptured by the Beatles, Donny could answer without reservation – a singer. The teacher encouraged him and asked him to sing for the class. Although Donny was embarrassed at the time, he took the challenge and began canvassing his Detroit neighborhood singing I Want to Hold Your Hand and She Loves You to his neighbors. His father supported him by making a wooden guitar with strings for him and other instruments for his band of friends.

Eight years later, at fourteen, Donny got his first real guitar and began taking lessons with his best friend. His early influencers were the Beatles, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Led Zeppelin, Johnny Winter, David Bowie, and Alice Cooper. Donny played bass guitar and sang backup vocals in a high school band named Phoenix and other bands.

Donny and three friends moved the band to California in 1980 to find a record label. The band worked for six years to break into the music industry without success.

In 1994, Donny began attending Hope Chapel Del Rey in Westchester. He accepted our Lord Jesus and began playing bass guitar and singing backup for the worship team. When he began writing Christian music, Donny began singing lead vocals. Eventually, the worship leader retired and put the worship team under Donny’s capable leadership in 2014.

With the formation of Fo’sho, he switched off singing lead vocals with Tim Sharman until their paths diverged in 2020. Donny leads the band and has found new members Sunny Durant (female vocalist), Roger Beall (drums), and Chris Benner (bass guitar). All love the Lord Jesus and give the glory to Him.
Donny appreciates and loves the support and encouragement from the friends he has made with the band which has become an excellent conduit for meeting valued friends. He invites you to say hello and become a friend if you have not yet done so.
